Swimming Program
Area Serviced: Moira
The Moira Healthcare Alliance swimming program provides eligible participants with access to low impact, non weight bearing exercises to improve mobility, social connectedness and reduce pain.
Participants are transported to the Wangaratta indoor heated pool from Yarrawonga. The exercise class duration is 1 hour. Community Care Workers are available to assist participants throughout the day. Following the class, participants enjoy each others company over lunch.
This program is made possible by the partnership between Moira Healthcare Alliance, Community Carers Support of Shepparton, Community Interlink of Shepparton and Wangaratta Indoor Sports & Aquatic Centre.
This program is for individuals who have difficulties in carrying out tasks and need assistance due to a moderate or severe disability. A person is considered to have a disability if they have a "functional" disability which makes it difficult to perform the tasks of daily living without help or supervision.
There is a cost of $7.00 per class to participate in this program. The program is held on Wednesdays from 10am until 2pm. An assessment from Moira Healthcare Alliance is required to enlist in this program. Please note that this program is regularly attended and largely in demand. New participants are currently being placed on a rolling wait list.
