Healthy Weight

Goulburn Valley Primary Care Partnership
Healthy Weight

Healthy Weight is a state wide health promotion priority that the GVPCP membership decided to focus on in the 2006 – 2009 GVPCP Community Health Plan.

Statistics indicate that on average, 58.9% of adult males and 43.5% of adult females living in the Hume region of Victoria are overweight or obese. This is higher than the Victorian State average (Victorian Population Health Survey 2003).

The Healthy Weight Working Group is responsible for the implementation of the health weight strategies outlined in the GVPCP Community Health Plan. The working group meets bimonthly and the location of meetings are rotated between Shepparton & Numurkah. The Chairperson for the Healthy Weight Working Group is Amanda Edis, Dietitian, Numurkah District Health Service and Carmen Patterson, Recreation Services Officer, Greater Shepparton City Council.

Healthy Weight Focus for 2008:
The Healthy Weight Working Group has recently decided to work towards the goal of creating healthier workplaces in the Goulburn Valley Primary Care Partnership catchment. One of the activities the working group will undertake is the development of a Workplace Pedometer Challenge Kit.

If you or your organisation is interested in being involved in the Healthy Weight Working Group then please contact Nicole Gray, Health Promotion Worker on 58 233 283 or hpgvpcp@gvchs.com.au
