
The GVPCP membership decided to focus on local health priority issue which is Healthy Ageing. As a specific population based group, the working group will address the statewide health promotion priorities in reference to older adults. The proportion on older people in the GVPCP catchment is expected to be higher than the Victorian estimates. The Healthy Ageing Working Group is responsible for the implementation of the health ageing strategies outlined in the GVPCP Community Health Plan. The Healthy Ageing Working Group meets bimonthly in Shepparton. The Chairperson for the Healthy Ageing Working Group is Shane Hughan CEO of Valley Sport.
Healthy Ageing Focus for 2008:
The Healthy Ageing group will be looking to amalgamate itself with the HACC Services Best Practice meetings. It was agreed that this would be a more appropriate partnership platform for dealing with the issues surrounding Aged care services. The background to this is that a number of HACC Service providers presented the idea to GVPCP that they needed a new forum to discuss the issues relating to their industry. They were aware of the GVPCP Working group review process and were keen to see some new partnership develop.
